Our plan from day one was to provide you all with regular updates on our journey to open the Special When Lit: Pinball Electo-cade.
From early concepts through construction and all the way up to our grand opening, we will be documenting, photographing, and videoing all the changes this great space will go through. Check back early and often for the latest!
12/30/23 - A lot of work was accomplished in the last 4 days. The HVAC crew was in here this week getting the last bit of duct work in place. They also got the thermostats installed. The new HVAC unit should be here and ready for install next week.
We also had the folks from Pacific NW Marble & Granite here on Saturday to set up our bar top. We ended up going with a black quartz. It looks amazing against the black wall backdrop. These guys did a great job! We will have red LED lighting under the bar similar to the chair rails on the side walls. It should give off a really nice glow and vibe.
The restroom partitions are now up so all that is left are the soap and paper dispensers. Doors went up on the lottery room entry and the back-office carpeting was installed. The rest of the kitchen equipment was unboxed and assembled.
The last piece we wanted to share was the hanging of some of our decor. Huge shout out to Jeff Miller at Pinball Pimp. We got these sweet 18" x 62" vinyl banners of various pinball cabinet art. They went up like a dream. Really happy how this turned out. Just have a few more to place once the HVAC guys are through with their work. We started reassembling some of the games getting them ready for their tune ups. Stay tuned for our next update after what is sure to be a very busy first week of 2024!
12/26/23 - Quite a bit has happened since our last update. Lots of pictures below so here is a quick recap. The electrical drops for our arcade games were installed. They started unboxing and placing some of our equipment. The lottery room doors are being prepped whereas the kitchen door was fully installed. We are still waiting on some of the bathroom fixtures which should be in early next week.
This week we should have more of the equipment unboxed and set up. The HVAC unit is getting close to install and by early next week our bar top should also be installed. Lots of moving pieces but we are beginning to see the finish line in the distance. Cannot wait to share this place with you all!
12/16/23 - Today was moving day for some of our games. We ended up getting everything moved over in two loads. Total move time was seven hours flat. The first load was all arcade cabinets, and the second load was all pinball machines. The only game we were really worried about was Commando. This beast had to go down two flights of stairs with the first flight being pretty narrow. We made it down with no damage to the game or the house. So glad that one is done!
Once we got over to our location with the first load, we noticed that the chair rails had been installed along with the lighting. This is going to give off a great look behind the machines! The second picture shows them it lit up, but the red glow didn't come through very good with the overhead lighting on all the way.
The second load had the truck pretty well filled up. We got back over to King City and began unloading. This brought on quite a bit of notice from the people passing by. Some asked questions about our place and some wanted to take a peek inside. We were pleased with all the interest! All in all, it was a great day full of success with zero mishaps or injuries. Can't wait to see all these machines come to life. We are getting close!
12/13/23 - The rest of our equipment arrived this week along with our chair rail material. This will go up to help protect the walls from any aggressive nudging of the games. It will also have a channel with red LED lights that should give off a cool glow to the room.
The plumbing fixtures for the women's restroom were installed this week. Restrooms are getting close. Just need to get the partitions and paper/soap dispensers up.
Also, the fine folks from Advanced Communications Services started their work this week. They were installing the security cameras, alarm system and ethernet connections. Things are looking great!
Later this week we will begin moving some of our games over so they can be tuned up. Can't wait to see some games over here!
12/06/23 - Here is more of an update for this week. The temporary flooring protection was installed, and the ceiling tiles were delivered. More work was done on the bar and the quartz bar top will be ordered next week.
We now have running water in the kitchen and the men's restroom. The rest of the plumbing fixtures for the women's restroom and kitchen will be installed next week. As you can see from the pictures below the lights were also installed in the restrooms.
Next week the ceiling tiles should begin going in once the inspection is done on the sprinkler system. Also, the rest of our equipment should deliver as well. It should be another full week of progress. Stay tuned..
12/04/23 - Did a quick drop in today to see how the floors turned out. Surprised that most of the flooring in the main gaming area had been covered with Ram Board for protection. Did find that the lottery room was uncovered. They look great and the finish is much lighter than expected.
Also found that the plumbers were there installing bathroom and kitchen fixtures. Will have more time later in the week to get additional pictures.
